VMG Construction partnered with Maschmeyer Concrete to play a crucial role in developing OCPS Site 129, now known as Luminary Middle School. The project covered a slab size of approximately 124,000 square feet with 220 panels erected across six buildings. Foundation work began on May 9, 2023, with the final courtyard pour on July 8, 2024.
Our concrete applications spanned foundations, walls, floors, and walkways, using a mix of 3000psi for foundations and slabs, and 4000psi for tilt panels, columns, beams, elevated decks, and stairs. Highlights included three sets of cast-in-place (CIP) stairs, one three-story building with slab-on-metal deck pours for the higher levels, along with four one-story buildings and an additional CEP Building. We introduced vibrant colored concrete techniques to enhance the courtyard with Solomon colors like silver grey and onyx. Additional Solomon colors were used for decorative orange designs, Euroslate for the green leaves, Cocoa for stems, and Sombra for the oranges.
The collaboration between VMG Construction and Maschmeyer Concrete was vital. Our teamwork ensured each phase was executed meticulously, from supplying high-quality materials to adept construction processes. This coordinated effort resulted in the successful and timely completion of Luminary Middle School, ready to serve the community by August 12, 2024.
